Oceanic style, commonly known as beach theme, can be categorized as an indoor decoration style that is vastly popular in United States. Not only gained popularity in coastal states such as Florida and California, but also pursued by customers who lives in the Midwest and Southeast. 
In the 60s, especially with the rise of Prairie-style, surrounding environment of a household firmly determines its architect and indoor designs, making architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright a prominent and influential figure in his generation. It almost goes without saying that house, or mansions, on ranches matches farmhouse style and urban apartments accords with urban industrial style. But since when such formality and unification across the United States become a law? A must? a cliché? 
After the 90s, with the rise of globalism, various home décor retailers, including Pier1 Imports and Restoration Hardware, introduced multiple indoor design theme to US and made possible for customers to shop, causing prairie-style no longer an essential determinant of one’s indoor
design theme. 
Like trendy clothing in Fashion industry, home decoration become a way to impress guest and to build homeowners’ identity. Personal preferences overruled architects’’ theories and concepts in the 60s. Family members who wish to create or show off his or her own indoor design statement can simply add some holiday vibe or buy some classic antient Greek pillars at shops in their neighborhood.
